Now you did it! COD is ticked!!!
« on: March 16, 2011, 11:08:08 PM »
The USS COBIA (SS 245-museum boat in Manitowoc, WI) celebrated the anniversary of Pearl Harbor in 1951 by leaving the nest of subs at the New London sub base in the morning and banging into COD and scraping her hull from the after-engine room to the stern. Yup, Dec. 7, 1951 saw COBIA's hit-skip of COD!!! Talk about your Day of Infamy!!!  They took off and didn't leave any insurance information!  At 10:15 COD's CO sent divers over the side to determine the extent of damages. Besides the big scrape along the hull, the last 3-inches of two of the COD's propeller blades were bent 90-Deg!   Today COBIA has COD's anchor in her hull (based on the numbers welded into it)... so we knew they are crooks, but now we know they're bad drivers who take off from the scene of accidents.  We are looking into hiring some ambulance chaser lawyers to address this issue (hope the statute of limitations hasn't expired)!!!

I disovered this important historical fact at the National Archives today looking in COD's Cold War deck logs.
