Coming to your City! Paul
« on: April 21, 2009, 09:18:06 AM »
"Coming to your city" Say that would make a nice title to a song.  OH well  :crazy2:

Paul - I got dates for coming to Cleveland.  I'm driving over on July 17, Wife's family picnic and her high school reunion will be July 18 and 19.  She's taking off most of the following week, so we can either come for a visit on July 20 or 21 - that's a Monday or a Tuesday, we don't care which day because we're staying about 1 1/2 hours from there in Carollton.  I think we would drive back home on July 22.  I get family'd out pretty fast - Carollton is still a bit DRY so I have to bring my own Gilly. LOL

The wife knows she not going to get a lobster roll (unless John Bay brings one from Maine), but she'll still like to spend the day or what ever we can get aboard the Cod.

John,
you aren't going to be the first slightly off center TM to show up to see the COD, BTW Paul will give you the full access tour of the boat even if it isn't open and the COD is a truly awesome piece of work.... err submarine museum.

Take a lot of photos.  I want to make sure that the Cod submarine is real and need photos from a trusted source (John).  :)

Lance,
trust me COD is a real beauty and a fine example of what a boat looked like in WWII, I spent a few hours on her last Thanksgiving and it was one of the best tours I have ever had in my life.

Now don't build up expectations to an unreasonable degree!  COD right now is very dirty...  I have to get down there and vacuum up a lot of loose dirt collecting just about everywhere on the decks...  :buck2:   We have an erosion problem just outside the gate and folks are tracking in a lot of powdery dirt... no kidding, it makes me crazy to see it there and nobody else seems to be bothered by it...

Think Martha Stewart with a frikken machine gun boys!!!!       :knuppel2:

Ya know Paul,
submarines don't have to be spic and span 24/7 :o   there are rumor's flying around that before the Navy became a "nukulear" Navy that the submarine crews were dirty and had showers once a week if that and there was little cleaning supplies other the a fox tail and dust pan. Heck we only held field day once a week on a nuke boat unless we were in port and some "VIP" wanted to come down and have a look see.

Just remember one thing ((((((PING)))))))

Paul,

Damn good thing that I was only shootin a water slug and not anything else that may or may not have had any explosives in it at one time or another ;)   Beside's I couldn't sink the COD she looks to nice to do that too and she has way too much history for me to be shooting anything other then rubber bands at it.

 ;D I came, I saw, I enjoyed!  :smitten:

Paul & crew get one big BZ for the work they have done on the USS Cod!  :smitten:

I have to collect my thoughts and post some pictures later - I'm still enjoying the diesel-essence from my youth!  :smitten:

And yes I was a youth once...
