You'll likely never see this again!

Here is a rare photo taken by a visitor to the Naval Reserve Training Center, Cleveland in August, 1959. On the left is USS GAR SS 206, awaiting a tow to Astabula, Ohio for scrapping. Taking her place along side the pier is USS COD, newly arrived in town. Sadly, GAR took her 4-in. 50 cal deck gun, 20mm, and 40mm guns to the scrapper as well. COD arrived without deck guns. It would not be until 1992 that COD would get anything close to her gun armament back aboard.  For the aircraft experts in the group, can you ID the aircraft next door at Burke Airport? I thought it was a DC3 but it looks like a twin tail job!  Unless one of us memorial boats gets underway, you'll never see two fleet boats alongside each other in a US port again!

Could you imagine seeing a large group of them together? Or like the German Wolf Packs? That had to be a incredible sight.
