Getting the word out
« on: February 27, 2008, 03:45:18 PM »
I've made posts about this website on subsim.com, the bottomgun bbs, messdeck.com, and the Ubisoft SH4 forum.

Today I've collected some email addresses of the various sub museums and soon I'll be emailing them with a request to check this place out.

I just wanted to let you know, and I thank you for helping out!

Lance, I hope as these guys get the word, that they will reply and then we can find out their aims and needs and who to talk to about the different aspects of their boat. This site will be a great help if all use it. I'll put out some more info about it on LIB's BBS and on our web page also.  Thanks to you for all you are doing.

Hey Lance, I let the park manager at the Batfish know about this website also, as I am a volunteer there. Im shoot-kill-win on subsim.com

Thank you!

I sent out emails to someone with all 21 boats listed on the front page here.  Many bounced back, including the USS Marlin and USS Torsk email addresses.  The USS Marlin is darn hard to find anything out about.

Anyway, I hope to get some responses from those emails that did go through.

The Marlin is having hard times right now.  There is a lot of politics involved because some of the downtown Omaha developers want to have it moved so they can use the land and others don't want to pay to move it. Also most of their volunteers were people who are now in Iraq. The last time I went up there, the guy just handed me the keys and said to bring them back when I was done looking.  I have been trying to work with the base close by to see if we can get anything going on it. The street address should be good. I'll see if anyone in the Nebraska base close by has a good email address for one of the people there. They aren't even there most of the time to answer the phone. Gil Bohannon is the guy to talk to about the Torsk. This should be a good email for him. He is also a LIB member. gbohannon@usstorsk.org

Due to base closures the Cleveland NRTC is gone... and with it our mail box. Please address all USS COD mail to our president:  Dr. John Fakan, USS COD Submarine Memorial, 661 Lee Ct., Vermilion, Ohio 44089

If you want to find the sub and do not use Google Earth (why not???), you can find it on North Marginal Rd., between Burke Lakefront Airport and East 9th St., in downtown Cleveland, 1,000 feet east of the Rock Hall of Fame.

All other COD info is accurate:  phone 216-566-8770  and www.usscod.org

as curator, my contact info is pfarace@att.net or cell: 216-408-6991

I was really hoping you'd show up!  Please hang around here and feel free to take over the USS Cod board here.  :)  Thank you so much for giving me updated contact information, I'll fix it up right now!

Oh, and Paul, does the Cod have a physical address (911 address)?  I'd like to be able to add that in.

Mark, I'll get a link up for the Batfish this evening, before I forget it. Thanks for doing this. If any of you need the LIB Logo, let me know.
Thanks,

Well, the website has been live for a week.  Thank you all for registering and posting.  Tell your friends.  If there is someone who should be here that isn't, let them know about it.  Or feel free to give me email addresses to send an invitation to.

Everything has been verified by Google and we should be appearing on their searches soon.

Keep on promoting!  Spread the word!

Lance, this website has accomplished so much in such a little amount of time. It is amazing what the interweb can do! lol.
