I am thinking about doing another round of Batfish volunteer shirts. This poll, which runs for 2 weeks) is to decide on what color everyone would like to have. Yes, if you want to order one...I'll ship one to you. FYI - I get a price break after 25 shirts. So if you are interested, please vote your favorite color choice, then email me at ussbatfish@yahoo.com with how many you want and the sizes. The option that has the highest votes wins.
Thanks for your support
-
Do you have any examples of what the shirt will have on it front/back? :D
-
It will need to have the words "Batfish Relief Crew" on it somewhere.
Makr Talk to me abou this tomorrow....

I have posted pictures previously under the Drum Section > Volunteer shirts. Look for my post and view the images there.
The front has "U.S.S. Batfish SS 310 Relief Crew"
The back has a sub graphic, a reference to War Memorial Park and the website address.

Rick - they are the same ones we wear while we are down there...FYI
-
OK, it seems that we'll be going with the tan shirt with black lettering. I talked to others at the park yesterday and they wanted something like that. Apparently the red ones attract wasps...and the black ones attract the heat. So tan w/ black it is.
I'd like to turn in the order on May 5th. Please let me know if you'd like one...and mailing it to you IS an option.
Thanks!
Mark
-
Mark, put in an order for me for two Large t-shirts. I'll get you the money on reunion weekend. Tnx. :)
-
Mark, Iwould like one. I wear a medium. I will probably pick it up when I come down, and I will give Rick the money for it, incase you show up a day im not there, is that ok?
-
Mark S.; Travis; Rick; and anyone else...
FYI - I don't know how much this will cost. It will depend on the number of shirts (price break at 25). It will range from about $12/shirt ($9/shirt if we get the price break).
All I need by the 5th is just who wants one (or more) and what size(s) you want. I'll then turn this into the printer and then I'll pay for the bill when I get the shirts. My next time down after than will be the 17th (which I should have the shirts with me). At that point you can pay me back.
I think Rick is working on a special deal concerning the shirts and I'll work out those details with him.
So, just to recap...I only need quantity and sizes right now. Pay after May 17th as you can.
Thanks for your interest.

Mark,
I'd like to order an XXL extra fat. Let me know if they cost extra, as sometimes anything above XL costs a dollar or two more. Can I send you a money order when the shirts are ready? And you could let me know how much for shipping.
By the way, I was going to vote for a navy blue shirt with white or gold lettering. :)
-
Lance - I got you down. I'll let you know how much after the order is complete.
-
Here is the price quote back from my printer:
Yes, the price break is at 25 qty. I’m pricing 20 qty. and 25 qty. tan shirts with a one color front and a one color back imprint:
12 – 23 qty.: $6.65 and a $20 set-up plus 8.517% for tax
24 - 47 qty.: $5.95 and a $20 set-Up…plus 8.517% for tax
When you order 48 qty., there are no set-up charges; Set-ups are $10 per color/per side
I doubt we'll get 48...so assume an average of $6...then I'll add the $20 set up fee + tax and then divide by the number of shirts to get the final "per shirt" cost. For those wanting them mailed, add about $3 to that.
Order gets turned in on May 5th. Tan shirts, black text/graphic. I need quantity and size by then.
Thanks,
Mark A.

Do you have my order, too?
Mark S.

Do you have my order, too?
Yes sir...2 large T's ;)
-
No extra cost for larger than XL shirts?
-
No extra cost for larger than XL shirts?
you mean XXL? I'm not sure...maybe a dollar or two. I didn't ask for the cost, but I think it's minimal.
-
Just wondering if you got my order Mark A. ?
Also just something I thought would be a fun, and a play on words is to have the saying: "Operation Clean Sweep" put on the shirts, as we are cleaning up the Batfish, and they always put a broom on the periscope shears after a succesful patrol of sinking all ships they fired upon, signifying a clean sweep of all enemy targets. But just an idea, since I am not sure if they charge per word.

yes, I got your order. Have you not seen the images I posted here already? They already have that wording on the back of the shirt. Look back up this thread where I put a link to the Drum thread. I posted photos there of our last shirt.
-
Yes I have seen the shirt, maybe that is where I got the idea from. lol. Sorry about that.
-
Just a reminder, for those I've not heard from yet, if you'd like a Batfish volunteer shirt, please let me know ASAP as I'll be turning in the order on the 5th (next Monday) and hope to have the shirts to the sub on the 17th. I'll mail the shirt to those that need them mailed for a few extra $$$ to cover postage.
Tan shirt with black lettering/graphic... :smitten:
-
If you leave mine with Rick, I'll give him the money and pick them up on Memorial Weekend. Thanks.
-
Looking forward to mine....it's already hot down here in MS.
-
Thanks to all that wanted shirts. Order will be placed tomorrow.
You can pick them up at the museum at your convenience. I should have them there on the 17th of May, assuming the printer gets them to me in time.
Lance, when they are ready, I'll need a mailing address. Send it via email (ussbatfish@yahoo.com)
Thanks!

As a future suggestion for T-shirts, why not consider something that has the Batfish's battle flag on the back? True, it might cost more because more colors are involved.
A good friend brought me back a Bowfin T-shirt several years ago that had the battle flag on the back only it did not have the standard black background that many flags had but was very good-looking. If I'm not mistaken, Batfish's battle flag was on a white background anyway.
-
We did that for the reunion last year. We sold out in 1 month. Awsome shirt.....
-
That would bre a good shirt for general merchandise sales. It sort of reminds people of the Flying Tigers jacket.
-
We just had the flag on the back last year. If I do it again, I will definately put some text on it. Tat will explain what it is fot he laymen....
-
Here is an example of what the shirts will look like...more or less...
The printer said that I will have them by Friday the 16th, so I will be bringing them to the park on the 17th. You can pick them up there.
Lance, I have your address and will mail yours when I get them.
Mark A.
-
Purty! Thanks! ;D
-
I like it a lot. Should attract a lot of attention when I wear it... or so I hope.
-
I'll be at the USS Alabama and USS Drum later this month and will be sure to wear it there
-
Go Mark A.....
You do get a lot of attention wearing these shirts. Especially here inland. I have a lot of people aske me about the submarine when I were my MGR shirts...
-
Can't wait to wear mine!! So many people have no idea the Batfish is there, and this really helps get the word out since volunteers know alot about her, and can inform people when they ask.
-
Be sure and look me up on the Drum and if you could post here or email me as to when you will be here.

Man, I live due east of Vicksburg on I-20 in Chunky. If you happen to be taking I-20 to Highway 45 to go south, you'll drive right by my house. Odd.
-
I will be there, tell the gate and tickect office you are a sub volunteer and are there to see me. Looking forward to seeing you and comparing notes.

Hmmmm,,,, That woudl be interesting seeing Mark A trying to put a 5 inch deck gun in his back pocket. :2funny:
-
I wanna go!
Lance - any way you can drive down on that Sunday? It would be so cool to visit in person.
-
I dunno, have to see.

Shirts are ready...will be delivered to me tomorrow (Tuesday) and I'll have them at the museum on Saturday.
Lance, I'll get yours in the mail tomorrow or Wednesday...depending when my wife can get to the post office.
Major Major Kudo's to Rick @ the museum who offset the cost of these. You guys owe nothing.

Thanks, Mark and Rick. :)
-
Wow! Thanks Mark and Rick! I'm really looking forward to mine.
-
thank you very much for that. I would have been happy to pay.
-
I have them and they look very good :smitten:
Will have them at the park this Saturday and will mail Lance's to him in a day or two.
Again, thanks to Rick...and for everyone for wearing these portable billboards.
-
NO.... NO.... NO......
THANK YOU
I tell everyone that I cannot do this with out you (the volunteers). I mean it. The work that you have already done over the last year more then deserves a simple t-shirt. You all deserve much more.
Rick
-
Lance - your shirt was mailed today. The rest will be at the museum this Saturday.
Thanks to all

Yay! Lookin forward to it.
-
Received my tshirt today, along with my LIB cap and a certificate from Ubisoft for winning a SH4 screenshot competition, which I didn't win. I don't know why RealJambo sent me the certificate, but cool either way. It came from overseas.
Thanks again!
-
Wear it with pride.....
-
If he wears it at the Drum on the 25th...we'll out number them ;)
-
Ha Ha.... Batfish takes over again......
-
Mark and Lance had better be careful, I just picked up a load of paint and sand and we should have our compressor working tomarrow.
Tom Bowser
-
Careful now. I may have to get my Congressman involved here. He is a Viet Nam war vet, and I bet my Congrassman can beat up your congrass man.. :knuppel2:
-
Now be nice Rick or I will have to convince Mark to stay down here on the Drum. By the way, you wouldn't have a photo of the area in the stern up close showing the framing and structure between the tubes from the outer doors aft would you?
Tom Bowser
-
Check out the Batfish's virtual tour on the webiste, it has a very good closeup pic.
Here is a link to that page:

Thanks, that will help
Tom Bowser
-
Tom,
Let me know if you need any more Pics of the stern. I will be happy to provide..
-
Thanks Rick,
I think I can get what I need from the virtual tour photo, I just needed an idea of what would be blocking all the daylight we see thru ours.
Lesley and I spent today geting the Drum ready for Marks visit, everything is locked down secured with chains or welded in place. Motion sensors and alarms are install, pepper sray ready and metal detectors and scales calibrated. Did I mention guard dogs? :police:

You are more than welcome. We wore them at the Drum/Alabama and I remember at least one person asking about them.

Tom - and all this after I volunteered to help you with a commando raid to the Alabama to get you some of there stuff...you're a hurtin' my feelings :'( ::) :D
-
Sorry Mark,
I thought you were a sub vet, you really have to watch us. But I would never take anything from another museum boat. I really enjoyed your visit and hope it was benifical to you. If you saw anything you don't think was right let me know.
Tom
-
Tom - the DRUM looks very good and the work planned will even make it look better. You and Lesley have done an amazing job. I am anxiously awaiting photos when you get the after section done. And if you need more photos in a higher resolution, let me know what you need and I can email them to you.
-
Tom,
I hope you got all of the pic on the after tubes that you needed. If not I can get you all that you need.
Mark,
Thank's for the recon mission. I hope they do not miss their 5' ;D It is good to have you all back looking forwad to seing you on saturday.

The photos are enough, I can rebuild the stern from that. We have started on it this week, it took us three days to clean out two feet of dried mud and sand and clams out from under the tubes, most of it had to be chieseled out. I thought our 5" looked different, I don't know how he snuck that cardboard mock up in.
