Title: Tolling of the lost boats

The Blueback Base of USSVI iis holding a Lost Boat ceremony on Memorial Day at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI). The ceremony will start at 1300 behind the OMSI building, next to the Willamette river.  Everyone is invited.

Wish I could be there.  I'll make it up there one of these days.  I just have to check out a cold war diesel boat.

That would really be something to see.  As far as I know, the Blueback is the only museum boat that was made down here in the South, wish I could see her.

Come on out anytime!  Submariners are always welcome, (other folks too)!  Next year the "B-girls" are having their reunion here.

No, it's as in USS Barbel, USS Blueback, USS Bonefish.  An Association of former members, and any widows or eligible dependents of former members, who have served on the USS Barbel SS-580, USS Blueback SS-581 and USS Bonefish SS-582.

So how long did these "modernized" diesel boats spend on the surface on patrol or did they charge while snorkeling and just drift or motor along at slow speed?
