Hey wut is the subs gonna do for pearl harbor day i think it is
-
Good question!
-
If i remeber right their was 4 subs? in the harbor that day only 1 or 2 even had deck guns. and when the united states declare war on japan 2 subs went out and were almost sunk by american destoryer escorts only one of them even made a torpedo run. Funny thing is one of the captions on one of the boats eventully went to a insane aslyum.

Subs at Pearl on 12-7-41
Cachalot, Dolphin, Narwhal and Tautog
-
Tautog became quit famous eventully but the dolphin and the narhwall were the only ones fireing day.
-
Tambor and ... Tuna maybe were stationed out of Pearl but were out on patrol at the time.
-
Tambor comes to mind...tuna not soo much if any boats were on patrol they were straffed by american airfracraft or destoryers played some chicken with them..till the subs rose...

Well as a 'Non-serving" member of our group - let me say "thank-you" to all of you who have and are serviing in our country's military. Without you we would not be able to exercise our rights and most likely would not be the America we have come to under appreciate. Thanks to all of you and best Holiday wishes moving forward!

Tautog was stationed in Milwaukee with Cobia for awhile. On February 20, 1960 both subs were torn from their moorings during a winter storm. I think there are still a few dents in Cobia from that storm! Here is a photo of Cobia and Tuatog in Milwaukee. We actually have Tuatug's periscope on disaplay in the museum.
Kind of off topic but an interesting tidbit. :)

There were several subs at sea at this time...but those 4 were the only ones at Pearl during the attack.
