Both Lance and Tom received the Robert Link Award at the 2010 USSVI Convention. The Robert Link Award is given by the National Commander for those who have done outstanding work during the year to advance our creed. Lances' website and Tom's work on the Drum have done a lot to educate and teach others about those shipmates who died while serving on subs. They also have helped the public understand the role that submarines and those who serve in them have in keeping this country free. This website has done a lot to bring together those of us who work with museum boats and has helped us in reaching our goals with our subs.
My congratulations to both of them for a well deserved recognition of what they hve done.

Thanks Bill, It was a real shock when I got a call from the awards dinner. I have to give Lesley Waters of the Drum credit for me being there. It was her dedication to the Drum and the crew that got me there and interested in the Drum. I could not have accomplished what we have done witout her hard work.
Congradulations Lance, it is great that all your hard work here is reconized, this forum is a great help to all of us and I know we don't thank you enough for it :knuppel2: :knuppel2:

A very hearty BZ is in order to both Lance and Tom (and who can forget Lesley) for their awards, you all truly have earned them :smitten:

Congratulations guys. You've earned it. You've given us a way to keep in touch with the other museums and groups around the nation and helped to educate the public (and us as well). ;)

Thanks guys. The site wouldn't be here without everyone involved. I am just trying to help out.

Lance was reading some old posts and noticed the one about you also being the LIB SOY and got me to wondering where you do have all these awards hanging. Send us along a picture of them up on a wall somewhere. Maybe they can hide your safe with all your money. LOL

Thank you everyone!

Thanks for the heads up on Lesley's award, It is about time. And it is the Historic Ships Maintainence/preservation/exhit award. we hadn't heard yet and it was three years ago I got mine. I will try to keep it a secret until Tunnel presents it to her, probably on 8 Oct at the next commision meeting.
