Title: Radio Repeaters
Post by: Mark Sarsfield on November 07, 2011, 07:08:55 PM
As most of you know, there are four radio repeaters on the boats: FTR, Ward Rm., Galley, and ATR.  Where is the central feed point to these repeaters.  I figure that it's somewhere in the radio room.  Some pictures would help us a lot.  Thanks.

First of all, I'm not sure what you mean by radio repeater?  A radio repeater is called a speaker.  Torsk had no remote speakers for radios in any place other than the Conning Tower.  Once upon a time she had them in the Missile Control Center (Plot), but when that functionality was removed, so were the remote speakers.

Now if you mean entertainment radios, aka., RBOs, Torsk had one in Crew's Mess and one in the Wierdroom.  The connection point for those radios was in Radio on the receiver patch panel shown in the attached photo.

SPEAKER AMPLIFIER UNITS!!!  but they are not RBOs --  The units were located in the FTR, WardRoom, crew's mess, and ATR... and yes, they could receive input from the ship's RBOs and record players could be hooked up to them... sort of like a reciever in your entertainment system. They also could be used to boost the sound from movie projectors.
