Title: Admiral Fyfe's Grave
Post by: Mark Sarsfield on April 09, 2008, 11:35:08 PM
I was doing a general interent search on John K. Fyfe and found this photo of his and his wife's burial marker at Arlington.  Apparently, he made the rank of rear Admiral Upper Half (2 stars) before retiring.

That is correct.  We are supposed to have some video of his funeral her some were.

I do believe that his family are planning to come down for the reunion again this year.

That's cool.  I'd likek to meet them.  For all intents and purposes, this was his boat, since he was CO for most of her patrols.  He had the right stuff and his career showed it.

Wow, his family might show up?  That would be wonderful for them to see what you have done with the boat.

Yes, I am excited.  They were here last year.  We hade 4 generations after Cmd Fyfe.  We have done a lot since they have last year.  They are always a treat.

4 generations?  I just started working on number 3 in my family.  They were busy...  ::)

When I play SHIV, I always use "John K. Fyfe" as my CO's name.  Makes me appreciate the "boat" more and I try to imagine how he would have done things when confronted with different situations.
