Title: COD engine running video back on YouTube!
Post by: Paul Farace on July 13, 2009, 11:01:08 AM
If you want to see a GM 248A 16-cylinder submarine engine running, you'll be happy to know COD's video of her first main engine running in 38 years is back on YouTube:

Enjoy!

Thanks Paul,
had hoped that you would have cooling water running by now and the video reshot to correct the error ;)     Loooks damn nice seeing another boat run it's diesel again after so many years of it being silent

There are some more important issues with No. 3 right now. But all is well.   :smitten:

So, are you, Torsk, and Pampanito the only museum boats with working diesels right now?

Torsk's don't run yet and hopefully we one day will be able to get ours running, without having a truly dedicated Engineman or a Fairbanks Morse tech whom would be willing to work ours again it will be a long time before ours are running again (the #1&2 engines last ran in '71 when the reserves had her in DC and #3&4 have been encased internally in Cosmoline since she was Decommed in '68).  The Silversides, COD, Pampanito and I think one more boat have at least 1 Main Engine running again

I thought the Cobia had some diesel that would run, but I'm not positive on that one.
