Is there some kind of flap between the volunteers and Torsk  management?  The linked website pages show a little bit of tension?

Nice work by volunteers, either way. Wish I lived closer to the Drum to help Tom & Lesley out.

Excellent work.  It's a shame the amount of "abuse" that many museum volunteers have to go through when all they ever wanted was to help and make things better.

Tracey,

Thank you for the before and after pictures, I will never forget my first time onboard the Torsk in 04 and my last visit I believe was in '11 there was sooooo much difference over the years and I can only hope that TVA and BMM/Connie can come to an agreement once more.

TVA, BTW did everything they could to please the museum and the aquarium when it came to the restoration efforts of the Torsk, it was noted on here a few years ago regarding the boats that have made a comeback were the Torsk, Cavalla, Drum and the Batfish. ALL of these boats have seen hard times as have others and with very small crews they were able to bring themselves from being a piece of scrap to being something that everyone IS proud of.

Tracey if I haven't said it to you lately it was an honor and pleasure to serve with you and the rest of the crew (local and distant) restoring a piece of history

I first toured TORSK in 1989.  I was really excited about it.  My beau and I had toured CROAKER [in Groton when it was listing from having only one side of batteries removed], BECUNA [several times when Navy folks from the shipyard kept it shipshape] and LIONFISH [which was great but too much plexi].  TORSK was so bad I turned to him and said, "That boat is dead.  We're NEVER going back."  We did, however, enjoy talking to BATFISH veteran, Mr. Joe.

I would not have gone back to TORSK but for my being in Baltimore on some kind of business shortly after the KURSK sank and saw that the sail of TORSK had been creped.  I thought that was a lovely gesture and I had taken flowers to the Russian consulate the week before.  So, on a lark, I paid my money and ventured aboard and met Larry "Doc" Derouin and Big Al Becker.  The rest is history.

But, prior to the volunteers it was just sad.
