Title: Old movie footage
Post by: JTheotonio on November 20, 2008, 06:23:48 PM
I don't know if any of these have been posted before, but they do bring back old memories.

Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qyRO8EVBTEw

Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-p1Lxv5K28

At the end of Part one is just like I remember - love the shot.  Side bar has a few other submarine videos.  But these two are really good.  You guys worried about manually loading a torpedo tube, notice how easy it was - just two guys hauling.

Great find, JT.  Thanks!

These segments are VICTORY AT SEA's "Full Fathom Five" episode on the submarine war...

I just purchased TWO copies of the ENTIRE VICTORY AT SEA DVDs for $5 at WAL MART!   Just two in the bin left!  Last year I purchased 12 for COD shipmates. Go to your local Walmart, check out the cheapie DVD bin... look for the Victory at Sea boxed set, slightly ticker than the other bad movies in the bin and a STEAL at $5!

So what if much of the footage is post WWII films and color stock converted to black and white!

Ok.  had to go watch our Victory at sea again.

They make it look easy,  but their tubs were well lubed.   Several analagies come to mind as we move to load our current set of torpedos.
