If you have a fleet boat in your life, you need at least two...

What is it?  (and yes, it's in bad shape, but you'd be too if you were made in 1943 and had been sitting out in the weather for much of that time!  :'(

Can't judge the scale.  Looks like a spin-on oil filter.  :)

It's a rescue buoy float from a WWII fleet boat (one built in a private yard like either Electric Boat or Manitowoc)... it's about 13 inches in diam. and 20 in. long.

Made of cork and canvas with plastic skin... and not in the best shape after 70 years or so...   :-[
