Was looking again through the photos Gil sent and noticed this one.

Kid is going in the wrong direction. That's how we checked the depth, speed and gyro setting spindles. These spindles must be withdrawn whent he muzzle door is open. So the only way we could check to see if the extended properly was to get into the tube (with no drop light) crawl forward, place our hands near where they would extend down. Then someone would shut the muzzle door, lock and extend the spindles. The person in the tube checked to see that they extended properly. Then open door and crawl out. It was a job for the skinny kid usually. Good training for future Cat Scans.

Sounds like fun. Not the place for people that hate small spaces... but neither is a sub, for that matter.

Yup, that is me and my son PJ in the picture and he wanted to do something that daddy did on the boats and seeing how I was a TM it was only fitting for him to dive the tubes. I had forgotten that pic was even taken and I was about 20 pounds heavier in that pic then I am now. That was his first trip to the Torsk and by the end of the day he was giving a better tour to the tourista's then the docents that day, made me proud as hell of him that day and every day that I have been blessed to have in my life.

No I don't mind and I am sure that my son won't mind either, what pics do you have from Torsk so far Lance??

Well, Gil sent me some AWESOME outside shots and some shots of volunteers working. PGalore (Tracey Johnstone) sent me some good interior shots.
