USS Batfish (SS-310) / Re: Rick - wish list
« on: February 26, 2013, 11:25:15 AM »
I am Vice CO of Lockwood Base.  We have helped the Drum, Marlin and just gave $500 to the Thresher Memorial.  Send a message to John Bay (johnbay@megalink.net) to be put on the "Needs" list with a brief description of planned work and material needs.  John is CO.
We are also the supplier of the Preserving Our Heritage patch.  The drum just ordered 200.  Are you selling them?

Pictures are great.  Finally get to see Rick, who I've spoke to on the phone several times.  One thing that I think is important are BEFORE and AFTER photos.
Does no good to show a nice shiny Torpedo Tube inner door because we would think it's that way all the time.  If you are going to add a piece of gear, say in Radio, then show the hole before or the gear that was there;  or the same applies to a panel that is going for refurbishing.
We all expect to see the pristine final product, but we need to see the road that got us there.

New Member Introductions / Re: Hello from Lance aka snakeyez!

Hello troops.
The more people that know about all the boats, the better will be the attendance to them and hopefully the more funds will find their way in the many ongoing restoration efforts.
I need to remind all of the Restoration Supporter patch Lockwood Base of USSVI has.  For $7 you buy a patch from them and 100% of the net goes this year to help the Drum.  That might change in '09 or maybe not.  But any group can buy the patch in quantity for $4.50 and them mark it up to sell at their own locations to raise funds for their boat/museum.
Also we have developed a rocker that fits on top of the Restoration patch to show which boats you directly support or have visited.  Right now the Drum and the Cavalla have those rockers in the works. Hopefull the Silversides and Torsk people will take advantage of the program.
Looking forward to meeting the Cavalla people and Batfish types in Ft. Worth in September at National Convention.  Would like to meet the Bowfin guy one day also.
