Title: Back from Hollands-SUB PICS!
Post by: Paul Farace on April 01, 2010, 07:12:28 PM
Visited the WALRUS (just back from patrol)... wow! Not unlike our BLUEBACK... left COD magnet on crews' mess deck (natrually  :coolsmiley:)

Then visited the TONIJN (TUNA) a boat in their Navy Museum that is displayed much like DRUM (up in the air)... also cool. Thanks to Gino Den Ridder, the visit went perfectly!

Here are some of the many pics:

The two fellows on deck of the WALRUS (in uniform, Mr. DeGroot, engineering officer of WALRUS), next to him is Johan Kragtenj, my contact at the Dutch Submarine Heritage Center (sub vet who served on the TONIJN)... the interiors are all the museum boat. The interior of their active sub was not something I could photograph (not surprising)...
