Title: memorial plaques to remember those who served with us
Post by: Gman on March 04, 2009, 01:20:57 AM
United States Memorial site- http://navymemorial.org/- allows one to honor our fellow shipmates.
We're trying to get one for John Wise. Anyone interested in helping?

I didn't know the story of John Wise, so I looked it up.

That's amazing.  And to save the Dolphin and the crew only to die nearly 5 years later from colon cancer.  That's terrible.

By the way Gman, this sounds like an excellent project for a USSVI Base somewhere.  I can't recall if you are a member of USSVI?  You should join if you haven't!

I think this url willl work better:  http://www.navymemorial.org/
Also Michael Bircumshaw is working hand in glove with the San Diego Maritime Museum to get suvets involved with the Dolphin, so both the Scamp and San Diego base/chapters are involved with it. I am sure that writing to the BCs of both bases would be a good way to get support.
