Title: 40 mm guns
Post by: Tom Bowser on March 10, 2008, 08:13:25 PM
Does anyone out there have a good photo of the hand cranks on a 40 mm gun for the elevation and traverse cranks?

That's the Cobia's setup.  Looks like the TBT is on the gun?

No, the TBT is behind it on a stand, but the 40MM is blocking the view of the stand.

Did you make that from scratch?  Got any prints?

From scratch, no prints and hardware off the shelf on the target, the long arm is 3/8" steel cut to shape with a torch and smoothed with a grinder, the handles are about 5" long about 2" dia. threaded connectors (9/16 threaded hole used just because it was the right size) welded washers on each end, used 5/8" anchor bolts to hold handles. took about six hours to make up the two sets.

Thanks,
Lesley did most of the grinding to make them look good, I stick things together and she pretties them up, She is learning how to weld also so we are becoming quite a team.

Tom - that photo will help me.  If you have any more, please forward them via email to ussbatfish@yahoo.com

Also, does anyone have any schematics/drawing/high quality pictures that they can't point me to?

Any help is appreciated.

Mark
