Post by: Lance Dean on July 27, 2008, 12:23:08 AM

Title: New Jersey South Pignic
Post by: JTheotonio on July 27, 2008, 09:14:47 AM
Yesterday was our annual Pignic - two roasted pig and over a 100 people attended.  I had mess duty and it was hot behind the grill.

Beans, two roast pig, hamburgers, hot dogs, pork roll, all sorts of salads. And lots of shipmates!  You should have been there.

My wife and I were at the Batfish and yes it was hot.

Just got my copy of Battle 360 from the History Channel so think I'll stay inside and watch it today

I'm still around, but I've had a bit of computer trouble. My external 500GB HD decided to head for lala land. I tore it apart and mounted it internally as a sata. The bios and drive manager recognises it, but as unallocated. I am going to buy a new Seagate 500GB sata drive and once it is working I will see if my local dealer can recover some of the data on the WD drive. I had about 350GB on it.

Always backup the backup with a backup!  These PC's will stop without warning and you need to backup a lot.  Files should be put on CD's (two copies) all the time.  I'm sure you do some of this now - but others need to know they have to backup.

I always backup files that are important. In this case I was waiting to get a bunch of family pics organized for backup and then the drive failed. About 90% of the files are just downloads that I can always download again. I am installing another internal HD tonight and then see if the computer shop can recover some of the pics. They quoted a price of $50 to recover the files.

Well, I finally won one of those Springfield barometers on eBay.  I've been tinkering with that in an attempt to get it to match my electronic barometer.

Yep, that's what I've been up to.  That and learning how to convert movie files and how to incorporate Flash movies into html.  :)

Just wanted to thank everyone for their continued support.  I've been slacking a tiny bit here lately.  The weather here has been too perfect to miss by being inside!  We've been around 55 degrees F in the mornings and highs have been around 85 degrees F in the afternoons.  But even better is the low humidity, rare around here.

I've been getting numerous small projects done that have been needing attention.  I'm sure this won't last long, it will be freezing here before we know it.

Lance, please write up a summary of the two things you have been doing with movies and I'll add it to our computer tips page. The computer tips page goes out to, not just the USSVI bases, but to all of Tim's clients. They are one of the most looked at pages, so what you are experimenting with will help a lot of people. If you write it simple enough, I might even understand it. (Grin)

Hope you are all having a great weekend.

Had a great day today.  Sold some junk and our couch and chair (NOT my Lay-Z-Boy recliner of course) so Emily had just enough to get a new couch.  I'm tired, so very tired.

Going to the Drum a week from today hopefully.

Glad to see that.  The Marlin is an oddball thing.  Looks like it could teach everyone a little something.

I've been checking, but I'm so busy at work I haven't had time to get anything done that I wanted to do. :crazy2:  Right now I'm getting ready to head to Scottsdale in a few days.  I have to put together all of my agenda material and help someone else with theirs (joint meeting this time). :D

Guess I ran everyone off with that last batch of Gilly.... Thought that I passed enough rations around for the crew :-\

Seriously, I have been busier then heck at work and the last thing that I am wanting to do is research again for another project

I wondered what happened to most of our gilly!  :'(
Title: Re: Hey there...
Post by: Darrin on February 01, 2009, 11:39:43 PM
WHAT, did I make make it TOO strong and everyone is still recovering????   Guess that I shouldn't be allowed to make the gilly anymore John because I enjoyed it :'(

Guess I should tell ya that I refilled the tank because of the last batch I made here, the folks here in Nawfalk LOVED IT :smitten:

Maybe Drum still has some Gilly left on her... forgot to check the COD when I was up there during Thanksgiving >:(

Post by: JTheotonio on February 02, 2009, 08:53:29 AM
I never met a Gilly that was toooooo strong! :P  It must have been those others that had a bit of problem with our Gilly.  Ya know those MM and ET's are a bit squeamish when it comes to a real "man's" drink.  ;)

We just blew off January healing from the holidays - so let's get some conversations going guys.

Pause - now back to my distiller... :smitten:

Personally I thought the gilley was kind of weak, I liked to put mine next to the rc to give some boost. Nope none left on the Drum, first think I checked. We do have a tank full of torpedo oil though.

Thanks Tom,

I thought that I cut it weak but good, trying to stretch what we had at the time ;)  But others haven't responded back so they may have thought it was too strong and are still recovering.. Sounds like I may have to make a road trip up to see Martha and the COD and see what is truly left onboard ::)   Paul has been way too quite lately and he may be dabbing in the reserve stores onboard

I agree, Paul has been quiet.

I just don't understand why people join up here, blast about 5 posts out, and then disappear, never to log in again.   :tickedoff:

So how are you Oklahoma folks today?  Looks like there was some bad weather there...

Its been ok, I stopped by last weekend, and it appeared only a few branches had broken, so nothing serious happened to the Batfish, which is good. I got off a couple days of school for the ice, which was very nice,  ;).

Sorry,
Been busy lately.   Between being single father to 2 full time kids 1 part time kid and dealing with the ex,  not to mention Blue and gold Banquet for the Cub Scouts and when I am not busy with that,  working at the Batfish.  needless to say I have been busy.   We are gearing up for the reunion next month.

Lance, I still check up when I have time, but thats about all I have time to do, This is the first time I have been able to stay on the internet for more than 5 minutes, lol, so I usually do not have time to post. But I still try to keep in touch. School is really kicking my butt this semester with calculus and architecture studio one.

The storm closed the boat last wek end. and reports of more rain this week end.   This is not good.    :-X

I am happy to report that the storms so far have not effected the filming of the USS Seaviper (AKA Drum). We are just finishing up the first of three weeks and it is going well and on schedule, just long nights (12-14 hours.
