Title: Artifacts Available for Donation
Post by: pekelney on September 07, 2012, 05:38:48 PM
Folks,

USS Pampanito is moving to a new warehouse this fall and is de-assessioning and giving away some items.  If you are a non-profit (including government) museum, please take a look at these two lists.

The first link shows artifacts that we will hold on to if we cannot find an appropriate new home.

The second list are being offered free to other museums, if there are no appropriate and timely takers they will be scrapped.  Basically the submarine batteries is the interesting item in that list.

In both cases, these will be donated at no cost to Pampanito.  I.e. you will need to pay for shipping.

The items in the scrap page have been sold.  The items in the excess page are being kept and we are finding homes in museums for many of them.

I know this is a little old but, are the access hatches from the sunk SS Barbel SS-316?  If so maybe one could go here - USS Barbel, SS316, Submarine Memorial, Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery, Natrona County, Wyoming.  They could mount that next to their plaque?

The hatches are from the 1959 USS Barbel (SS-580).  She was partially dismanteled and then sunk in the 1990s.

Rich,

Is the TCS a TCS-12?  Is the RBS a RBS-1?  If so, and they are still available, we'd be interested in them also.

Do any of the museum boats need a depth gage 0-400'? I know where one is available but it must go to a museum boat that really has a need for one and not just as a spare.
