How about remembering and reflecting upon the sacrifice and accomplishments of the Silent Service with a selection of classic submarine flicks on Turner Classic Movies Saturday morning? The schedule includes: 6:00 a.m. "Hell Below" (1933); 10:00 a.m. "Destination Tokyo" (loosely based on some of the Silversides exploits) (1943); 12:30 p.m. "Torpedo Run" (1958); 2:15 p.m. "Run Silent, Run Deep" (1958); 4:00 p.m. "Up Periscope" (1959); and 6:00 p.m. "Operation Pacific" (1951).
Personally, "Submarine Command" starring William Holden and "Das Boot" are two of my very favorites of the genre.
