Rich,
I have been coming across your name all over the place... well, all over the internet actually - sorta happens when one searches anything related to these old boats. Seems you have this talent for finding the perfect distractors from my schooling: patrol logs, manuals... I even caught myself trying to wrap my head around the theory of operation of a TDC. The latter is a good thing - I can justify a truce with my war on math long enough to attempt trigonometry once more.

Where do you keep finding these long forgotten things?

Most of the material on http://maritime.org/doc has come from the US National Archives in College Park, MD.  Others from museum or private collections.  I have bought some of them from booksellers.  Others were borrowed, scanned and returned from all over.  I scanned and put up the first book in 1997.  It has slowly built up.  Often based on requests from other museums.

I am so thankful that Rich posts his helpful findings here.

I was lucky enough to meet Rich AND Paul Farace on the same day.

Lance,
I personally think that might be pushing the limits of "coolness" for one day :)
