I am looking for a family member who served on a boat during World War II. Unfortunately I do not have very much info to go on. His name was Charles Joseph Hailey and he was stationed in San Diego during the war. I am not sure of very much else. My aunt seems to think he was an electrician, but not sure. I am trying to help her out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm having no luck in my searches for Mr. Hailey.  I don't think there is a good database of WWII guys out there, public anyway.

Try getting ahold of the folks over at USSVI (United States Submarine Veterans Incorporated) because they have a great list and IF I remember correctly they now maintain the WWII submarine veterans page also..

Another possibility is Charles Hinman, the keeper of the OnEternalPatrol website at the Bowfin in Hawaii.  I know he has his list of lost submariners, so he might be a source for your quest.  His email is:
