Motor for Lube Oil Transfer Pump question
« on: February 20, 2015, 12:27:33 AM »
One of my volunteers asked me post a question here:

The motor for the Lube Oil transfer pump in Engine Room Lower level has a bad bearing.  It is a vertical Electro-dynamic DC motor.  We don’t know how to take it apart to replace the bearings.  The parts list on the drawing refers to bearing cartridge assy.

Can anyone tell us how to change the bearings on this motor?

Thanks!
Karen

Karen,

I don't have any clue as to how to change those bearings out, however have you tried to see if the manufacturer is still in business? and if they are contact them and see if they will rebuild it for you, there was one done not to long ago for one of the museum vessels and sadly I don't remember which one it was

We just had the pump fixed, but apparently the lower motor bearing is making noise.
