I have seen several technichal disagrams and knowing the basic concepts of the scops they should nto be hard to work ont.  The bigest problem will be removing the 2k lbs scopes from their houseings and finding the fabricators or suppliers that can get us parts....

LOL!

Paul, some of us do have mechanical/aerospace engineering degrees.  Reading prints and technical documents isn't out of our league.  If I can figure out how a hydromechanical fuel control works for a jet engine, then I think I can figure out a periscope.  What we really need Mr. Lapinki for is to help us find parts and come up with the best repair solution.  I'm hoping that we don't have to pull the scopes out of their housings, but we'll see what he says.

Hi Folks,

OK, I got the message. Sounds like we have a few projects out there. I will try to help as much as possible. In most cases, a replacement periscope may be in order. I have not worked on a display project for about 2 1/2 years after many years of activity. I do have some parts available and have access to documentation. I still consult for Kollmorgen. I will check the availability of surplus periscopes.

ooooohhhh thank God you're here Paul.... I was about to give up hope and allow the witch doctors to shake their rattles and blow their magic dust on the scopes of several subs!

Come to think of it... it might help all of us...  (the magic dust that is...)   :coolsmiley:

Welcome aboard!

Rick can I borrow one of your rubber chikens, ours flew the coop.

Paul Lapinski, it is great to see you here, if you happen to hear of any extra scopes the Drum can use one also, one scope is in good shape we just need to clean the optics, is that doable? the other one is totally black inside don't know what happenned there.
