So sad...

http://www.ussubvetsofworldwarii.org/ no longer exists.

Thankfully, Don Gentry of http://www.submarinesailor.com is going to move it into his site.

It's just one of those days that I wished would never come.  The USSVWWII is hard to find out about.  I wish I knew when/if they decided on a final date for their organization.

Unfortunately, this was a non perpetuating organization.  Many of the Veterans groups are facing the same fate.   We just do not have that many war vets anymore.

There are those that may know more then I do, but I believe that this organization is being folded into the USSVI (nonWWII) to help keep them alive.   I agree that these are great men and need to be remembered.  Maybe what I do here will help out a little.

Yes next year or 2010 they will be folded into USSVI and cease to exit as an organization.  WWII vets can join USSVI for something like $25 for life membership. Sad but their numbers go down every day it seems.  We should do all we can to keep their memories and deeds alive.  Great men.
