That clock is on a BB and I don't remember if that clock was used for actual time of if it was used during Gunnery practice.

numbers go from 1-10, not 12 - search battle ship clocks see if something comes up

I know but I started this thread so I will wait and see.  It is a very logical reason - why even Lance should be able to figure this out.!

Well, without flat out looking up the answer (saw this topic on LIB BBS but didn't wanna look) I'd guess that the range clock was used to let the guys on the tons o' guns on the BB the estimated range to target?

 :) This is true - yet there is a bit more to go. Remember back in Nelson's day, Line of Battle tactics - the range clock has something to do with this tactic.
