« on: March 14, 2009, 11:35:16 PM »

USS COD's wardroom is at the HNSA meeting in Annapolis and our Sunday just opened up (yea!!!) and I am trying to get our skipper and my associate Toby organzied for a visit to TORSK on Sunday (today when most of you read this)... Hope we can get at least one of the "Terrible TORSK Bandits" aboard to show off all the great work aboard our Danish cousin sub (Torsk is Danish for CODfish!)...    :'(

If anyone wishes, my cell phone is 216-408-6991... we're at the Navy Lodge in Annapolis.

Paul,
Normally we don't have vol's onboard on Sunday and had I read your email earlier I would have driven up just to tour you onboard yesterday to repay your kindess that you showed me during thanksgiving or at least called some of the locals to see if anyone would go and show up and give you the whole tour.

Speaking of the Torsk - I was doing some research for my newsletter and came accros this article in the All Hands June 1946.  Sorry for the poor quality but if anyone likes I can send the PDF file of that issue to Lance - maybe he can do something with it - its about 35 MB - so not something you can just post here.

Enjoy - Last Shot of the War honors!

Gil,
if the copy is clean enough you can photo copy it and post the paper under plex in both Rooms with the weapons showing that she did in fact sink the last warships in WWII :)

Thanks John

Better than me trying to send 36 MB files why not get it directly - plus more reading.

http://www.news.navy.mil/allhands.asp?x=search

In the yellow ribbon at the top change 2009 to 1946 and then select June for the month - click on go and you will get the PDF file for All Hands June 1946.  This archive goes all the way back to day one.  Too bad they did not have a search feature to find articles on particular subjects.

I'm going to download all of the All Hands from 1938 to 1948.  I wanted to see what they printed just prior to WWII and then post WWII.
