A request for the submarine museum boats
« on: November 30, 2008, 03:45:08 PM »
I received this email today and decided to repost it here first:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The USS STERLET SS392 Association has embarked on a project to honor all submarine veteran's of WWII diesel boats at the Veteran's Museum in Branson, Mo.  When visiting the Museum during our reunion planners conference (we are having our reunion there Oct 7-11 09) I noticed nothing not even dolphins honoring submariners there or even a picture of a submarine.  I talked to the director of the museum and showed her my Disney patches for the Sterlet as well as all of my other boats and asked if we made a display would she put it in the museum.  She has agreed and I am now working on the case, layout, ideas, and more importantly soliciting patches as a donation to the project.  (The Sterlet is funding all the costs of the display, and shipping to the museum)

I know you have a relationship with all of the museum boats and I would like to have a section of the display dedicated to those submarines.  Can you solicit each of them to send me at no charge a patch of their boat and if none available ask crew members if they have an extra one.  This section along with my lost boats section will be significant to the display.

Let me know if you can assist me with the Museum boat patches.

My address is:  Richard Jarenski
                       Commander/Secretary USS STERLET SS392 Assn
                       7832 No. Sombrero Peak Dr
                       Tucson, Az. 85743
                       520 744 0869 or cell 520 8501437

Now I need to find a contact for Lost Boats and solicit there patches.

Any help would be appreciated.

I currently have following patches (Sterlet 392, Raton 270, Baya 318, Dogfish 350, Hardhead 365,
Corsair 435, Albacore 218

Thanks so much You have done a great job for all of us and your efforts are appreciated and respected.

Lance,
Does she have an email address.  I cannot provide an original patch, but I will be happy to send her one of the patches that we have in the gift shop.  I also have a vender that can make most any patches that she may want.    I am a little disapointed that they chose Branson as there is a submarine just down the roade from there in Muskogee.  Maybe she did not know the sub was there.   Any who.  this is a good opertunigy for us to do some advertising and volunteer solicitation.

Thanks
Rick

If you google search on the USS Sterlet SS-392 you will find the assocation - Richard has an email address that is generic to the association:

We will be doing some patches for the Marlin which he also doesn't have. Ski lives out in AZ. This will be a nice looking board when it is done sometime this spring.
