Karen:

Is that box below your auxillary helm a pyro locker?  Ours is nowhere to be found, including where it was stowed! I will look for bolt holes in our deck. The blueprints indicate it stood in that local, but no locker today!  Hummm who the heck would haul that puppy (weight about 100 lbs?) out of the boat?

Good work on the CR! :smitten:

I have no idea what it is. I didn't even know there was door on the side until I stared working on it. Never paid that close attention.  I would like to know more about it though.

Paul and Karen
Do you still a signal ejector in control?
The Drums was remove in '43 I believe and if yours were removed the pyro locker would have been removed also.

Yes, it's still there. We "uncovered" it about a year ago when we removed the big, boxy heater that was blocking it. Now that tehe HVAC is up and running we were able to remove the old heaters that were installed in the 70s.

Did you find any mummified submariners behind those 70s vintage heaters when you removed them? Would that be disturbing an artifact or would that fall under the exploitation of human remains protocols now so touchy among museums?  :knuppel2:

The flare ejectors in the CR and ATR needed a safe stowage box for the pyrotecnics they ejected. The boxes are missing on COD. Something we will have to replicate for COD one of these days...   :o(

But at least we know who has one to copy!   :smitten:

Geeez, gimme, gimme, gimee... ;D I'm surprised you haven't asked me to bring anyting along this weekend.

No, there were no mummified submariners found. (ewww!) We do get floaters in the river on occasion though.  :buck2: Two since I've worked here, but thankfully I've never seeen them.
