School of the boat for 19 Aug 08
« on: August 19, 2008, 07:15:02 PM »
All right folks lets finish the tank layout this week so we can move on to bigger and better things... JT once more you have to wait until sunday to give the others a chance (sorry man, hate to do that to another TM).....
So with that being said we are going from the Forward Engine Room to the After Torpedo Room with the tanks and this will nearly close this section of School of the Boat out, and for those whom have been staying with this the final question about the tanks will be posted next week. ;)

According to Appendix A-3 of the Fleet Manual, the three tanks back there are the Main Ballast Tank #7, After Trim Tank, and After Water Round Torpedo Tank.

Thanks, guys, but it wasn't too complicated to copy out of the Appendix.  I really like the full color diagrams that they put in the book.  Much better than reading a bunch of descriptive words.

OK, I'll post now - sneaky - I have been on the road.  All this week I have been in Canada with limited Internet access.  Came back Thrusday at midnight.  We (that's the Mrs. TM and me) left for New Hampshire at 0900 Friday.  So now I am sitting in a not so cool room (but nice) in Franconia New Hanpshire for a weeks vacation.

Tomorrow I am meeting John Bay at the USS Albacore for a tour of that fine old boat.  So go have your school of the boat. and a BZ Mark good job.  I'm glad we got some others jumping in.  Good job Darrin.

Have a good time while you're there.  John mentioned that he'd introduce me to both the Albacore AND lobster if I ever visited there.  How's the lobster up there?

Ya know Chief, Doc and I were talking about those yesterday while I was at my ex-wife's picking up PJ and I do know that they are on Torsk but don't remember seeing them on the diagram, Knowing that anything coming out of a Chief's mouth is "gospel"  :2funny:  I will have to say thank you for correcting me on a missing tank.

Hey Chief right now there isn't enough left of my shoulder to pick PJ up anymore, damned near had to go to the hospital because of it last night.. Walgreens doesn't sell shoulder slings but they do sell ace bandages and two of them later with the help of my Ex to put the shoulder back into place and then sling it up it was fine a few hours later and was able to drive home today without pain meds.
